BackupAssist performs scheduled, automatic backups of data files, system state, SQL Server, Exchange Server and Hyper-V Server to external hard disk, DVD, iSCSi devices, tape drive, Network attached storage and to the Internet (Rsync based). The graphical user interface allows the system administrators to easily follow industry-standard backup strategy and media rotation schemes. Advanced users can customize their own schemes with incremental and differential backups. BackupAssist sends daily email reminders telling the user which tape or disk to insert.The user can also receive email notifications that keep them informed of the status of each backup job.The software was designed to be simpler and more affordable than many enterprise-level brands, and it is aimed at small and medium sized organizations.
