Anvira AntiVir free edition has antispyware protection in addition to antivirus, and you can customize the scans in a variety of ways. Scan internal and external hard drives, run a preloaded scan, create custom scans, and schedule them. The Scanning Tech tool can crack locked files. When a file is quarantined, you will see its information and options to rescan it, restore it, delete it, and email it to Anvira. Anvira AntiVir is an effective albeit basic antivirus program. The interface is geared more toward technical savvy users and may be frustrating for novices. Malware detection tends to perform better on a clean system than on an already-infected system. Overall, scanning times tend to be average. In general, users' biggest gripe has to do with daily pop-up ads to buy the full version. Installation is rather easy and it does not require a reboot. However, new users are required to register. The Anvira AntiVir download is set to automatically install the Ask.com Toolbar and make Ask.com your default search provider. To avoid these things, deselect those options during pre-installation.
