This version of Windows Live Messenger is for Windows XP. Unfortunately, XP users will not be able to take advantage of all the cool HD video features available in Windows Live Messenger 2011, available to Windows 7 and Vista users. With Windows Live Messenger for Windows XP, however, you can still instant message your friends, and enjoy all the ways you can spice up your Messenger life. Add a mood-changing display picture, nudge your friends to let them know you're thinking of them, and get help expressing yourself from animated emoticons. Initiate video chats, make free PC-to-PC calls, or send SMS text messages to mobile friends. Unlike some other IM clients, Windows Live Messenger is not set up to receive voice calls. It does support multiplayer gaming in addition to photo and file sharing. Mobile access to Messenger allows you to stay connected with your friends while on the go. MSN Messenger users can also partake in social-networking fun, albeit in a somewhat static way. Share what you are doing across a variety of social networks, and view others' statuses from Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, and others. Updates are prioritized, so that you see those from your favorite friends first. Windows Live Messenger comes bundled with other items. If you do not wish to install any other programs, take care to deselect them upon pre-installation.
