555 Timer is a simple but useful application for calculating the timing characteristics of one of the most commonly used electrical components - the 555 Timer Chip. 555 Timer quickly calculates the timing response of a displayed electrical circuit for supplied values of resistance and capacitance. Two commonly used modes of the 555 IC are supported, namely monostable and astable mode. In monostable mode, the 555 IC is configured for single-shot operation, whilst in astable mode, the 555 IC is configured primarily as an oscillator. In both modes, an animated LED provides visual feedback for the timing response of varying value-resistor and capacitor values.
