Every once in a while you have to put something on your Mac that serves no purpose other than being cool. Gravite falls into that category. Gravite makes Macintosh s drag-and-drop feature look and feel more like the real thing. Suddenly, gravity, inertia and friction take over as you move a file on your screen. Install this little Control Panel on an unsuspecting victim, stand back and watch the response. The first file the user moves across the screen will literally cause him to drop his mouse as it swings to and fro like a drunken sailor. The effect is intoxicating. You ll find yourself moving files just for the heck of it. You can even make a file free fall by holding the Control key down as you release it by letting go of the mouse button. It tips and drops toward the bottom of the screen. Releasing the Control key will cause the file to stop its suicidal plunge, but continuing to hold it will result in the sound of breaking glass as the icon hits bottom. Not to worry though, the icon will quickly reappear on the desktop. Drag words or phrases around in a document and you ll notice the tipping and swaying varies depending on where you grab the item. Trying to line up icons while using Gravite can be a bit of a chore since the icon is usually swinging back and forth. But the author has already solved this problem. Selecting the Caps Lock will disable Gravite during times that the user needs to align icons. For more detailed information, including on updates, please read the documentation or visit the home page.
