This is a Kernel patch that modifies the Penguin logo. Instead of seeing the scrolling text of a typical boot-up, you get a customized full-screen graphical start screen with a progress meter and a single line of text that explains what the system is doing. In order to use this, you must have Framebuffer support in your kernel. For more themes, check out the home page.
